Agneskena
My name is Agneskena, a name that Iinherited from the mother of my mother. I've grown up surrounded by women, withmy three sisters, my mother and my grandmother. That's crucial to how I stepinto the world, how I see the world. I am proud to use this heritage in myphotographic work. Born in Belgium, but my roots lie in Congo. Through mypersonal projects, I use photography and video to tell stories that aredifficult to put into words. Most of my inspiration comes from my ownexperiences as an African woman in a Western society. I portray the versatilityof being "black". My photography is characterised by warm colours andsoft tones. I like to say that this reflects my approach to the craft.
