This workshop, led by Chris Harrison, is an experiment – an invitation to step away from the usual way of seeing the world and explore new ways of noticing what naturally captures our attention, wherever we are.
For a while, participants will set aside the familiar street photography tricks – shadows, reflections, juxtapositions – not because they’re off-limits, but to avoid falling into the trap of using them out of habit. While there’s nothing wrong with these classic approaches, this workshop is about using them more intentionally and challenging ourselves to look more deeply.
A week before the workshop, there will be an online presentation where Chris will share thoughts and techniques on looking at the street in a fresh way. Participants will also receive a small homeplay (rather than homework!) exercise, designed to help them become more intrigued by the familiar.
This workshop is about more than just collecting images; it’s about developing a deeper curiosity and a more instinctive feel for what draws us in. There’s no right or wrong way to see, and no expectations – just an opportunity to explore, experiment, and hopefully surprise yourself.
