10h30-12h: introduction to flash on the street, in group
12h-13h: lunch break
13h-14h: mirror flash demonstration
14h-16h: independent assignment
16h-17h: feedback assignment
Bring your camera.
If you have a remote flash, be sure to bring it.
A rotating flash is prefferable, but if you don't have one, that is fine as well.
You will learn to work with flash in the traditional way and learn to approach situations in a candid way. In addition, you will also learn how to use flash in the context of reflections to create surrealistic images.
Bert de Busschere is a photographer known for his experimental approach to photography, especially flash photography. His work is often praised for its creativity and innovation. By using various flash techniques, he often creates unique and intriguing images that transcend the boundaries of traditional photography. His experiments with flash can range from freezing movement to creating dramatic lighting effects, giving his photographs a dynamic and visually captivating look.
For @Streetsbybert, also called Bert De Busschere, street photography is a way of life. He discovered the love for roaming the streets in 2017, right after he graduated as a journalist. Since then his camera is always by his side.
He became a finalist at several street photography festivals around the world with a high rate of different pictures. In 2023, Bert won the first prize at the Fujifilm Moment Street Photo Awards in Poland.
Today, he is trying to experiment with different styles to create his dream world. Sometimes flash, sometimes reflections, sometimes both at the same time. His personality demands variation. In any case, street photography functions for him as pure mindfulness and freedom.
